Starting a Game

  1. Go to the game app and sign in (anonymous sign-in available β€” no email needed)
  2. Complete your one-time profile setup (choose a name and avatar)
  3. Choose how you want to play:

Private Rooms (Family & Friends)

  • Click Create Room to make a private room
  • Share the room code with invited players only
  • Perfect for family game nights, classrooms, and friend groups
  • Only people with the code can join

Public Rooms (Play With Anyone)

  • Click Browse Public Rooms to see open games
  • Join a room with players from around the world
  • Meet new storytelling partners and discover different styles
  • Great when your friends aren’t online or you want fresh perspectives
  • Includes safety features: content moderation, reporting, and blocking

The Word Phase

On your turn, type exactly 3 words to continue the story. The constraint is intentional β€” it forces creativity and keeps turns short.

The Drawing Phase

After a few word turns, all players draw simultaneously. You have two ways to create:

Option 1: Draw On Screen

Use the digital brush tools to sketch directly in the app. Choose colors, adjust brush size, and erase as needed.

Option 2: Photograph Your Artwork ⭐

Tap the camera button to photograph a paper drawing:

  1. Create your drawing with crayons, markers, or pencils
  2. Hold it up to the camera
  3. The app automatically crops, enhances, and places it in your comic panel

This β€œAnalog-to-Digital” approach lets children use their favorite physical art supplies while still creating a digital comic legacy. The original drawing stays with you as a keepsake.

Your drawing becomes a panel in the final comic strip.

Voting (Multi-Round Mode)

In multi-round games, players vote on the best word submission and best drawing each round. The winners form the canonical story.

Results

When all turns are complete, AI generates your Tale Card. Each player customises their own comic strip β€” adding captions and speech bubbles to the panels.
